Where are the stock photo images of earnest young software developers sitting around a conference table with distinguished grey-haired clients? What about the UML diagrams with superimposed patterns of binary numbers?

Well, first of all, it just seems kind of phony.

We decided we’d like to use images which have a different kind of connection with our work.

We want to remember that software is more than an end in itself. It is a tool—an essential part of the economic machine that feeds and shelters you and us and gives us all the freedom to pursue whatever we find meaningful and satisfying.

These pictures remind us of that. And they remind us that this pursuit of meaning and satisfaction can be part of all our activities—including the creation of excellent software.
